I have two. The Ritual and Drowning.

The Ritual is pure smut. 61 chapters and every one contains a graphic, demeaning sex scene. I’m convinced the author was an adult film screenwriter and decided to try their hand at writing a novel. There isn’t a single likable character in this book.

Drowning isn’t a great work of literature. I felt that the characters were very two-dimensional. I hated how naive the author made the protagonist. It made me have a lack of sympathy for her. The ending was series finale of Dexter bad.

A Gentleman in Moscow. It was just so… meh. Airport literature.

So many people raved about it to me and now that I think about it all the people who recommended it are people who don’t usually read. So I can see how it would be mind blowing if you’d never read a book before.

My mom enjoyed it and reads a lot. It’s just a very slow paced, slice of life as times kinda thing, not for me either (the faster paced the better I say) but I’m glad it’s for others, and I’d say it’s technically very well written.

It was ok. I normally gloss over improbabilities in historical fiction but it was just too ridiculous
