Clearly their relationship deteriorated once BJ started his lecturing gig and Hollyhock found out about New Mexico (nail in the coffin being the televised interviews). However I can’t help that feel that Hollyhock has some of the same character flaws as BJ, and despite his major issues , he’s still family. In that sense maybe BJ would get her in a way others wouldn’t. I kind of hope that in the long run BJ gets his shit together and they can form a healthy relationship.

Sure, when she has matured and had some time to reflect. She’ll see him as the troubled person that he is and know to not get too close or depend on him but appreciate him for what he did do for her and other things he tried to do. At the end of the show, she wasn’t at the age yet where she could see adults as human beings and not just parents/providers. Had Bojack actually done something harmful to her then it’s more likely she’d take the same attitude towards him that Bojack took towards Beatrice.

Lots also depends on how life goes for her. If her career takes off or she marries someone who’s wholesome, does a business, and whose greatest vice is watching R-rated movies, then she could enjoy life in a bubble and become increasingly harsh and judgemental towards others like Bojack.
