Her definition of “luxury” is warped. It’s not luxurious to not be able to afford rent.
Luxury is to sleep at night knowing you can cover your bills. Luxury is not fighting with your spouse over a lifestyle you can’t afford. Being in debt for supposedly nice stuff is not “luxury,” though I know many people think it is.
