This might get taken down for “lack of effort” but I don’t care I need to post this. So I’m new to invincible and I watched a few short videos to get me up to speed with the comic before I delve into the show. One of the videos talked about viltrumite genes being dominant genes meaning that no matter what species you are. You will slowly become a viltrumite. Does this mean that an ordinary human can become a viltrumite from a strand of DNA from either omni man or invincible? Enlighten me.

You can’t edit the genome of a multicellular organism

Except you sort of can to a degree. Somatic cell gene editing is an emerging field with the potential to lead to treatments for genetic diseases in the future by doing exactly that. There’s also some funky shit being done with adult stem cells that could lead to some pretty interesting shenanigans down the line.

Realistically there’s no telling how well or how poorly that statement will age in the next few decades considering our understanding of this area of biology is only going to grow. I doubt superpowers will ever happen of course, but large scale modification of genes in adult humans isn’t exactly out of the question.

Ok, we’re kind of going out of my depth here, and that’s probably true for 99% of comic writers and readers.
