In the comics as Mark gets older he starts looking a hell of a lot like his dad.
It’s worth noting that we see viltrumites from other species gradually lose their traits from other species, like starting out an fantastical color and gradually fading to a humanish skin tone. Presumably mark should in theory look more and more like nolan as he ages…yet he doesn’t age half as gracefully.
I always had an issue in general with that whole notion of “Viltrumite DNA is so pure it overpowers all the other DNA”, thing.

I personally think that he looks more like Nolan facially, but he has his mom’s eyes (brown eye colour).
You can have more of the same genotype as a parent and have the same genotype as the other, phenotype is what is expressed, and genotype is what isn’t although, it’s still there and may show at later dates, such as viltrumit powers it would seem

Yeah the science doesn’t track. He got an x chromosome from his mom, and a y from his dad. He’s got 50/50 human viltrumite dna. Well more like 51% viltrumite 49% human.
Your looks are set basically the moment you are conceived, and from what we can see of Mark’s brother there is still substantial alien DNA for the first several years at minimum. In short, by the time Mark was born his looks were set. He then grew out of his human DNA until it was almost all gone (almost pure blooded) by the time he gained his powers.
The bigger question if Viltrumite DNA is so strong where is Mark’s moustache?

Those internal Viltrumite genetics. Half of your DNA from Viltrum will always give you powers, and Viltrumite (Humanoid) appearance, no matter what species you come from, but that other have will display some trait from your other parents side. Depending how alien that race is, the Viltrumite DNA will slowly overwrite the rest of it, and will look as pure Viltrumite as possible.

Basically. In the comics, you see a example very soon of this (which I almost said, but rewrote it). Viltrumites are like Asari from Mass Effect, in no matter what, the species they breed with always comes out a Viltrumite, but unlike the Asari when they take DNA just had a tiny bit of variety to their DNA that never shows up, the other race for a Viltrumite hybrid does show up, like through skin pigmentation or alien biology. But, Viltrumite biology gets stronger as you they age, so eventually, those other unique factors just slowly vanish, until you look like you were always a pure Viltrumite.

The idea that an Alien came to Earth 50,000-100,000 years ago and started having Sex with all the Hominid Apes is not a new theory.
If anything, it’s probably the opposite. We actually know that smart-atom abilities can be “given” to people and other races in the universe have been getting good at making superhumans with that technology. Humanity itself is getting pretty close. Eve is a smartatom superhero; it’s only that she manipulates the environment, not herself, and she does it consciously, not subconsciously like a Viltrumite. Humans are creating near-Viltrumite supes like bulletproof.
I don’t have a citation… but I’m pretty sure it’s said somewhere that Viltrumites haven’t always been this OP; that they modified themselves, then naturally selected until they became that OP. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Viltrumites used to be actual humans before they did all of that stuff to themselves.

I imagine universe hopping. Like Viltrum was colonized by humans from another timeline. The issue with this is that Viltrum exists in multiple universes.
The less you think about actual genetics and how it kinda implies Viltrumites can reproduce with any species, the better.
