I am fan of the the comics and would like to dive into another superhero run that has the struggles of character growth and comes with a definite ending unlike any of the majority of the ongoing DC/Marvel century old never ending series.

Would be preferable if our protagonist starts out young, but even an older superhero would do. A focus on battles with realistic power scaling like the one in Invincible where the characters have fixed levels but also grow stronger with more training/experience would be great.

I feel like you’re looking for Manga my guy. Invincible is like a great lovechild between American and Japanese comics. It’s story and ideas are clearly Wester, but it adapts it in a Japanese story structure (Long running story with a teenage protagonist) and has a concrete ending. I recommend One Piece (Not finished yet), Hunter x Hunter (Also not finished) and Attack on Titan (Has some funny parallels to Invincible, but I won’t spoil it).

Irredeemable/Incorruptible are about a Superman-like, the Plutonian, becoming “evil” and his (second-worse) arch-nemesis, Max Damage, being so traumatized by it that he becomes good.

The first one is about Plutonian’s former friends trying to discover why did he become evil and how to stop it, the second is about Max Damage discovering how to be a good guy after a lifetime of being the worst person around.

They are short enough to read them in half a week (they are 67 issues put together) and are very good, being way more than simply “now Superman is evil, lol”. As the writer, Mark Waid, has a lot of experience writing actual Superman comics.

But out of left field and a bit dated but Zenith is vaguely similar - even right down to the blue and yellow

Spider-Man: Life Story and the og Ultimate Spider-Man are both are retellings of Spider-Man mythos with a beginning and end.

But, my #1 recommendation is Radiant Black. It’s also by Image and is currently ongoing, but will operate like Invincible with a solid ending and has cool power progression. Can’t recommend it enough

I loved the first 40 or so issues of Ultimate Spider-man. Imo, it went downhill and that dip in quality lasted until their version of clone saga and extended to the needless retcons and sudden character dynamic changes. But the ending was solid.

Thanks for recommending Life Story and Radiant Black. Will give them a try.

Hey, I just read Life Story. Thanks for recommending it. It was beautiful but short. Amazing experience to get through.
