I don’t HATE Diane and enjoy what she brings to the show as a character. However, I would not want to be her friend irl.
Bojack is an asshole as he kinda tries to play the victim card but if confronted about it, it would not be hard to get him to say that he is an asshole. Diane is also an asshole but would never admit that. I think that scene where she is grandstanding about the water being served and then steals her “friend’s” water and follows up with a vague question showing that she knows nothing about her life is the prime example of her mentality. She ultimately is selfish and so down on herself and her coping skills don’t actually involve self improvement (until the very end). Instead, she tries to improve the world around her but it’s self servicing instead of actually wanting to help. It’s saying that she helped instead of actually reaching something that is helpful.
For my life, I just really appreciate someone who can say they suck. 😂
I think about the water scene all the time. It’s more important for people like that to be “right” because it validates their sense of self-worth, but at the cost of common sense and listening to the people around you.
Having said that, I don’t hate Diane at all, and I loved the trajectory she’s on when we leave her at the end of the series. Who wouldn’t wanna marry sweet buffalo-man LaKeith Stanfield dayum 😍

I think that is the best answer yet. Thank you.

Which episode is the water scene in? I don’t quite remember it
It’s all of these things, then being super condescending to BoJack when he opens up to her about it.
