I never felt that way, maybe because I saw a lot of myself in her. I just want to see another point of view on her.
People i know who’ve watched the show always told me how alike i am to Diane, i dont “hate” her, but i hate how real it is and how much i can relate. It’s like watching myself from a third point of view. I think other people can kinda relate on that, her issues and the things she does are very much real and when something real is presented in a cartoon it messes with perception. I also agree with others saying it definitely stems from misogyny, considering her to be the most feminist, and most achieving character. She’s normal and when people can relate that’s what brings out the inner self hatred.
At least in my own point of view ^^
I don’t hate her but she does often seem hypocritical and whiny a lot.
I don’t hate her, I just shake my head over some of her decisions.
i dont
I don’t hate Diane. I disagree with some of her behavior, just like I disagree with some of the behavior of all the main cast, because the point of the show is that none of them is perfect and every one is a different kind of messed up. I do find it a bit annoying that a lot of the fanbase seems to want to pretend that nothing that she did during the six seasons of the show deserves any criticism at all.
I find her a hypocrate. BoJack is WAY WORSE then her, at anyrhing - but it seems like she never acts on her values.
I don’t, she’s the most relatable character in the show to me
I don’t HATE Diane and enjoy what she brings to the show as a character. However, I would not want to be her friend irl.
Bojack is an asshole as he kinda tries to play the victim card but if confronted about it, it would not be hard to get him to say that he is an asshole. Diane is also an asshole but would never admit that. I think that scene where she is grandstanding about the water being served and then steals her “friend’s” water and follows up with a vague question showing that she knows nothing about her life is the prime example of her mentality. She ultimately is selfish and so down on herself and her coping skills don’t actually involve self improvement (until the very end). Instead, she tries to improve the world around her but it’s self servicing instead of actually wanting to help. It’s saying that she helped instead of actually reaching something that is helpful.
For my life, I just really appreciate someone who can say they suck. 😂
It’s all of these things, then being super condescending to BoJack when he opens up to her about it.
I think about the water scene all the time. It’s more important for people like that to be “right” because it validates their sense of self-worth, but at the cost of common sense and listening to the people around you.
Having said that, I don’t hate Diane at all, and I loved the trajectory she’s on when we leave her at the end of the series. Who wouldn’t wanna marry sweet buffalo-man LaKeith Stanfield dayum 😍
Which episode is the water scene in? I don’t quite remember it
I think that is the best answer yet. Thank you.
Diane is awesome! I see bits of myself in all the characters, but probably most in Diane
I don’t hate Diane. I try not to hold female characters to unreasonable standards I wouldn’t hold male characters to. And I admire her good qualities such as how determined she is to go after and expose the truth, even if it makes her unpopular or even puts her at odds with her spouse.
Because I think if Diane had the kind of wealth, power and authority that BoJack had she would probably be worse than him.
A lot of BoJacks issues also comes from the same thing as Diane which is a shitty childhood and the only difference is they manifest differently and so she acts like he’s horrible.
Also he tries to kiss her and she acts like he’s horrible and wrong for that, then she has sex multiple times with Mr. Peanutbutter when he’s in a relationship.
it’s one of those things where the character is written to be found annoying at times. that just shows she’s a well written character, even if not always likable. i personally really like her, especially when she made so much self improvement in season 6
I don’t
In other news, what is Diane’s problem? More at 11:00
I don’t, by the end of the show she became one of my favorite characters, maybe my second favorite even, her growth was so cool to see, and made me genuinely happy, but early doors she is definitely the least interesting one, she is pretty much the voice of reason(morally speaking) but she is a bit hypocritical since she is also a bit of an ass, which might annoy some people that became way too attached to Bojack
I love Diane. Her character had so much growth. It’s admirable
