I dont get, didn't this guy died?

i am only 33 minutes in the first episode of second season, but at the begging show omniman killing this guy, but he is there. And I know there’s this new concept of multiverse on the show, but is a multiverse where omniman did exactly the same, but the guy that travels through universes says this is the only one where mark doesn’t ally with omniman…??? I am confused as fuck. please no spoilers beyond first episode
