Inspired by another post I just remembered how the last Harry Potter book was released at my local book store. It was a cozy event with decorations and themed cookies and a reading. The event was late in the evening and sales started at midnight. I have such great memories of that time.
Which book release was the most memorable to you?
Harry Potter is my most memorable because my sister and I walked out of the store after buying our books, and some douchebag drove by screaming “Snape Kills Dumbledore!” out of his car window to a sidewalk of fans. I will never forget or forgive him. LOL
I think some events are still happening, but only when a book is really huge. Iron Flame, the sequel to Fourth Wing, had midnight release parties at Barnes & Noble when it came out this month.
I know Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered had quite a few release events across the US. That was pre-covid though, so I’m not sure if they’re happening since then.
I’ve never gone to a book release event, or a movie’s premiere, I’m too introverted. But I hope they’re still happening for those who enjoy them!
I’m attending a virtual release event for Mandy Aftel’s The Museum of Scent: Exploring the Curious & Wondrous World of Fragrance! It’s hosted by Ministery of Scent in California. The book came w/a personalized autograph, and samples from her museum. I live in TN, and I’m also currently unable to attend concerts or anything else due to my lowered immunity… So I am absolutely looking forward to it, maybe a little too much. I’m not sure if that counts for what you are asking about. I remember going to the Harry Potter parties back in the day, too.
