I love her work. RIP.
Very sorry to hear this. “Posession” will surely be read for years to come. A great writer.
Honestly feels before her time? Incredibly sad either way.
May she rest in peace.
Ah, damn. Possession and The Children’s Book were incredible.
A great literary critic too, she was always kind and even handed to fantasy books, a rare thing back in the 1990s when genre fiction was very much looked down upon. (Huge fan and champion of Terry Pratchett too)
I highly recommend her short story collection The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye.
Did you see the movie they based on it? I was too afraid it wouldn’t hold up. I love that story.
An extract from Possession was on the AQA English Language Paper 1 last week - no seems appropriately timely!
I am so sad to hear this. Hi to all the other fans out there - she isn’t talked about as much as she should be these days
oh no!
She’s one of the few literary geniuses of the last quarter of the 20th century.Very sorry to hear this. “Posession” will surely be read for years to come. A great writer.
I just read it for the first time this year and it was one of my favorite reading experiences. Truly a great writer.
Aww. I read Babel Tower in college.
Lovely memories of Possession and her marvelous short stories… what an incredible legacy she leaves!
