I didn’t know whether to tag this as show spoilers or comic spoilers (cause it’s both), but I assume since it spoils further in the comics that takes priority? Either way, you’ve been warned.
So obviously those of us who’ve read the comics know that Allen isn’t dead. That being said, am I remembering correctly that Thaddeus definitely did NOT turn off Allen’s life support in the comics? Now I don’t think that means this will be Allen’s end in the TV adaptation but I do wonder what this means for the show. Is Thaddeus the mole now instead of whichever one of the data twins it was in the comics? I feel like that doesn’t really make sense given his history but I also cannot rationalize why he would turn off Allen’s life support? They obviously want us to think it’s Thaddeus but assuming it’s not I’m actually coming up with a theory right now.
What if, since the data twins are largely irrelevant and in an effort to keep comic readers guessing, they change the mole. Now hear me out: Telia didn’t work at the Coalition in the comics and while she does have plenty of character development in the comics she ultimately gets fridged during the Viltrumite War. So what if in addition to her and Allen meeting at the Coalition, she also ends up being the mole, thinking that by giving information to the Viltrumites she can keep those closest to her safe… or so she thought. It would make his near-death at the hands of the Viltrumites much more tragic for her and rather than just using her death as motivation for Allen, we could see how her betrayal affects him and how she tries to rationalize it as having been done to protect him.
It would be a pretty drastic change from the comics but you never know ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I think he’s just faking Allan’s death so the mole don’t tell the Viltrumites to finish the job. IIRC in the comics he kept Allan’s survival from their attack a secret from the start, so in reality it’s going to the same result, the only difference is that they added a dramatic scene to trick the viewers.
Viltrimutes attacked Allen literally seconds into him sharing with Telia about Earth. Obviously Telia is not the mole. Besides that it would be in poor taste. She is to Allen what Eve is to Mark. They would never even think to go behind the other’s back.
