Im reading to into this but the scene stuck with me. Do they think its okay eating creatures alive? Is maiming a creature before eating it alive also common? I mean these things were sold at the canteen i dont think they were specific to the species. Maybe the brain beast is like a nasty little gremlin? I just thought it was interesting that the moral highground faction is eating like this. Its like the opposite end of the nutrient block spacefood trope.
