Both songs are used significantly in Ted Lasso and For All Mankind. Kind of takes away (I’m not sure what but something) from the significance. Two different shows and two meanings but why the same songs?
I’m new to For All Mankind and it’s really good so far (just into season 2) but the same songs in major moments confuse me and leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Economies of scale I can go for but the emotional strings can only be pulled so far before they snap.
Edit: Maybe I’m not saying it right. The songs in Ted Lasso are, for me, associated with so much that when they show up in “significant” moments in For All Mankind it was a little bit of a mind fuck. I am well aware that the songs are out there for everyone and everyone can find their meanings. I haven’t looked into what show came first so others could have the same argument. And that makes Apple the asshole.
I have a weenie dog named Bowie.
man, i get where you’re coming from, but these songs are out there for everyone. they can hold different meanings for different people. plus, gatekeeping which show can use them is just not cool. let’s appreciate the power of music in different contexts without getting too caught up in ownership.
