I’m interested to hear what the majority of readers have to say. Do you read blurbs (the quotes from other authors either on the front or back cover plugging the book) or do you ignore them?
Personally, I never paid attention to blurbs. But then I interned at a publishing company and blurb acquisition was such a big deal that I found myself starting to noticing blurbs more on the books I was reading. But still, most of the time, I don’t really care what other authors have to say and I just start reading.
Interested to hear your thoughts!
I look at WHO blurbed but I don’t really care what they had to say.
Yeah, same. They all say the same things, but I’m interested if, like, Stephen King thought the book was A Triumph and hearing that, say, E.L. James thought the book was great colors my opinion of it. I only really care what the quotes say on comedy books because sometimes they’ll be like “Dreadful. No human should read this” and “How did you get into my office?”
King and Martin are quoted on 95% of books. It has no value 😆
Same. Tamsyn Muir and Ann Leckie are a couple of my favourite authors, so if one of them has blurbed a book then there’s a good chance I’ll like it. I’ve also loved a lot of book with Alix E. Harrow’s quotes on the cover, so her name is one I always look out for as well despite the fact that I’ve never actually read any of her books.
