You were a non-reader, preferring to watch movies and series rather than touch a book.
But then, someone recommends a novel they think you’ll like, you flip through it and love it!
In case it’s the first part of a trilogy or series, and you decide to read the whole series (or at least read all the parts you get your hands on and, in case you can’t get your hands on the last ones, you decide to look for spoilers on the internet).
That was my experience with Warriors by Erin Hunter.
What’s yours?
I hated reading in elementary school. Then one day I found out my Dad had all the Hardy Boys books in classic hard cover, just stored away. He said I could pick whatever flavor of Ice cream we got next if I read two of them by the weekend. I was stubborn and read 4 of them. I got my ice cream, S’mores, and then kept reading them. Over a hundred Hardy Boys books, I’m sure. Then I discovered Tom Swift and all of my Dad’s classic Sci Fi books and jumped right into Asimov, Harrison, Heinlein, Stirling, Chrichton, and others. All before I turned 12 and I never looked back. Thanks for the Ice Cream Dad :)
