If you’re anything like me, you probably read a lot of books and forget a lot about them as well after reading them (also see: being ADHD)

Is there one specific book whose plot, characters, setting you just can’t get out of your mind and still think about today even when in the midst of another book?

For me, it’s 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I think due to the sheer volume of this book (clocked in over 1000 pages) I was so invested in Tengo and Aomame’s stories that it’s quite impossible to forget them quickly. This is also why I prefer long novels, because they stick around in my memory for longer!

So what book is still stuck with you?

Definitely Demon Copperhead. I read it in January and I still think about it when I grab my next book to read (I’m at 130 for the year).

Expecting this to be the same for me. I read it more recently (in September) but across the ~30 books I’ve finished since then it’s been sticking around like none other

So glad to see this, this was mine as well. What a fantastic story and such rich characters as well. Unbelievable novel.

I’m about 75% of the way through this book right now and am having a hard time not abandoning all my other life responsibilities to power through it uninterrupted. It’s so well written. I’m nervous to see how it ends, and can already feel that book-shaped hole that’s coming after I finish it.

Can you give me a reason to pick it back up? This was one I DNF because of the pacing and my general lack of interest in the characters. Maybe I just needed to keep going a little longer?

This book really hit hard knowing the area that it’s set in well. I wasn’t a big fan of the ending but it was still amazing overall!

Loved this book and finished a few weeks ago. Now, I am reading David Copperfield for the first time, and it is amazing how Kingsolver updated this Dickens classic.

Demon Copperhead would be my choice too. The characters were so well written, I was deeply invested in them. It was hard to read and hard to put down.
