If you’re anything like me, you probably read a lot of books and forget a lot about them as well after reading them (also see: being ADHD)

Is there one specific book whose plot, characters, setting you just can’t get out of your mind and still think about today even when in the midst of another book?

For me, it’s 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I think due to the sheer volume of this book (clocked in over 1000 pages) I was so invested in Tengo and Aomame’s stories that it’s quite impossible to forget them quickly. This is also why I prefer long novels, because they stick around in my memory for longer!

So what book is still stuck with you?

I read this too this year, great book indeed!! I heard it was supposed to be adapted to a movie which is so exciting!

My answer as well. It stuck with me in a way that I can’t quite explain. It’s so intriguing and just so wholesome. For a book about the imminent end of the world, it’s pretty “feel good”.

Also has one of the better friendships I’ve ever read.

Same. It was beautifully written and absolutely mesmerizing. I really want to go back and read it again, and again, and again.

This is mine too. I think it stems from having a bit of an irrational fear of aliens/alien abduction (watched too many late night docuseries as a kid…) and the idea of not only finding intelligent life but being able to communicate and work together instead of just immediately kill (because let’s me honest, any life we find we’d most likely torture and/or kill and I’m guessing that same would be of us).

This is the same for me, too. I think about aspects of it every day. What a beautiful friendship. Fist my bump!
