It’s my favorite S1 episode, and I have literally seen it hundreds of times, yet I always wonder: why do Ted and Beard not put anything in the Curse Fire? They are as much a part of the team as Rebecca and Higgins, so why are they not included/required? (I would love to see which of his axes Beard would bring lol) Is it because they are American? That is the only reason I can come up with, but it doesn’t really make sense.
I cannot imagine missing the explanation, nor can I understand how or why the script wouldn’t include them in the ritual.

It has literally bothered me for years (3 to be exact lol).
But I came to the answer above when replying to another comment. It was (basically) a team building exercise and Ted & Beard were running it, trying to unite the disparate members (and management) of AFC Richmond. They didn’t “need” to bond as much as the players and management. 🤷🏻♀️
