Reminds me of when Futurama did three similar gags in an episode where the animation style changed for each part. First it was black and white and they showed a brand new color of the rainbow that was unlike any other. Then it was 8bit animation and they showed something that was mindbogglingly detailed and made up the entire world but we just saw a single pixel. Then it was cheap anime where a character was doing an incredibly fluid dance but they just showed the same still moving back and forth across the screen.
This was really funny to me because while reading the first few issues I was thinking “man is he just refusing panels and backgrounds? that’s so cheap”

Which episode?
I love that episode, and I’ve never once stopped to consider the overarching theme in it. I’m kinda embarrassed tbh

Yeah, I commented something about them reusing a panel from the first segment of the comic in the later issues and got downvoted to hell for it.
That’s my favorite.
