Star and crescent is associated with Islam. Turkey got it started but they don’t really own it.
They could’ve used any other color than red imo. Like black or green maybe.
Green would be Pakistan. But, I think it’s hard to give a terrorist group a logo

Green is also the color of islam, so the red is a significance since turkey is an outlier with that color scheme
It’s really just a star and crescent which is a symbol for islam as a whole. (And used by turkey in their flag)
