Quite honestly I can’t stand only a few books that I’ve read, recently The Awakening by Nora Roberts.
Holy crap, do I reallllyyyyy want my money back. I was bored. So. Bored. The magic system was subpar, the characters just….ew, everything was so, so boring. The MC is an idiot.
What book is a zero star read for you?
My answer is and will always be The Night Circus. I hate that book more than I can explain. Reading it was a waste of precious hours of life. Time better spent doing anything else.
It really is a nothing burger but I thought the prose was pretty.

She doesn’t know how to actually write a plot. She can describe scenery in a nice way, and that’s it.
Yes! Describing a few set pieces and mashing them together is not a novel! I was SO angry after I finished the Starless Sea but because it’s got cats in it people on Goodreads were obsessed with it. GAH.
I listened to it and wondered if that’s why I didn’t like it. Now I’m thinking it’s probably just not that great.
