Yeah this one is a slow burn in terms series - the first two books aren’t great but put in the perspective of the later books they’re enjoyable.
100% agree. Absolutely adore the chapter written about the friend who is dying, that was beautiful, but hated the rest.
Oh it’s not good writing but it is an excellent guilty pleasure. Especially those awful movies - I love watching those haha.
It was BAD. So bad. He does not know how to write woman.
YES don’t get this one it was not good. Just a self help book the author wrote for himself disguised as a novel.
Ok yes!!! I enjoyed parts of this but like…it read like a nerdy guy’s fan fiction of what his life would be like if he was hot, strong, and infallible smart in a fantasy Middle Ages world.
Loved the Slow Regard of Silent Things though.
I listened to it and wondered if that’s why I didn’t like it. Now I’m thinking it’s probably just not that great.
Ok it is wildly predictable and a combination of every self help story you’ve ever heard. But it’s cozy and I loved the characters so I enjoyed it! It’s totally a cliche though!
Perfume: the Story of a Murderer. Worst “classic” I’ve ever read. The pure misogyny of him chasing virgins for their pure smell - just gross. Could have been cool but the author made it a bastion of purity culture.
Oh my GOSH I tried to read this one for a friend and literally the 2nd and 3rd books are the exact same dialogue over and over. The plot disintegrates into a will they won’t they throuple situation. Awful.
