Quite honestly I can’t stand only a few books that I’ve read, recently The Awakening by Nora Roberts.
Holy crap, do I reallllyyyyy want my money back. I was bored. So. Bored. The magic system was subpar, the characters just….ew, everything was so, so boring. The MC is an idiot.
What book is a zero star read for you?
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow.
I know many people are fond of the book, but I found it to be really cringe. It is basically a greatest hits of millennial anxiety crammed into the narrative, the dialogue is poor and I found the two main characters to be unappealing, let alone never fully felt their “bond.”
Also: the relationship between a teacher and student throughout the book is problematic. That thread’s conclusion made me want to throw the book against the wall.
Yes! The hype surrounding this book was off the charts. I’ve never wanted a book to be over faster than this one, it was slog to finish. The set-up for the shooting for example along much of the plot felt all too convenient. Like you say, it felt like roll call of millennial anxieties, and once we’re done with one we’re swiftly on to the next.
Ha! I just forced myself to finish this a couple of days ago. Totally agree with your comments and GeddesPrime’s.
100% agree. Absolutely adore the chapter written about the friend who is dying, that was beautiful, but hated the rest.
I had to scroll down way too far to find this!!! Hated it!!! And it was so hyped.
I love this book so much
