There was a lot of discussion around the character of Allen the Alien recently, and I saw a lot of really frustrating comments about him being voiced by Seth Rogen. Lots of, “I hate that they’re insisting on Seth because all I can hear is Seth Rogen when I hear Allen, he can’t even play an actual character!”

Like, do people not hear JK Simmons when Nolan talks? Seth has a recognizable voice, and his three(!) appearances have him playing a consistent character and delivering his lines well.

You know who is putting in a lackluster performance in the recent episode? Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen. He doesn’t even sound like he’s doing anything more than reading words off of paper.

I just don’t get the Seth Rogen hate. He’s actually quite a decent actor, but he’s written off as goofy, which actually really works for the character of Allen, who is absolutely a goofy concept.

    I can tell it’s him. Doesn’t matter. Already enjoy him in nearly everything he’s done and he’s becoming quite a good producer/adapter.

    It’s odd, haven’t met anyone so far that’s complained about Seth Rogen as Allen. Granted, our weekly watch parties have the same 10-12 people more or less. But even on Reddit, he hasn’t gotten shit on at all.

    Just tell whoever is shitting on the performance that you actually like it and get on with your day. Don’t let people live rent free in you psyche.

    I really don’t like Seth Rogens voice in movies. I did not realise Allen was voiced by Seth Rogen, so I’m pretty sure I don’t have a problem with his voice and just hated the man because idk he was in some unfunny movies? Or something?

    But yeah basically people complaining grow up it’s a cartoon why does it matter if the comic relief turned serious character has a funny voice

    I’d argue he’s actually been suprisingly good, we haven’t gotten a single cliche erhahahhaha and he’s done pretty well with the (2?) Appearances so far

    Nitpickers have a hard time with this show so this is reaching imo

    None of the voice actors in this show have bothered me. Certainly Steven Yeun does a great job voicing the character. JK Simmons is awesome. Peter Cullen and Seth Rogen don’t bother me. Cullen actually caught me off guard, really

    I also noticed a side character was voice by the same VA as Ultra Magnus from TF Prime (Michael Ironside) I think, lol

    Didnt even know ppl were shitting on the Performance tbh. I thought he was great. I think of Allen as having a friendly demeanor, like an alien best friend, and Seth fits that role well tbh

    I understand people disliking Seth Rogen’s characters, but Allen is the perfect role for Rogen. Allen’s entire character from the very beginning has been that of an outwardly gruff guy that’s actually a total dorky goof. You know, like Seth Rogen.

    Well, you are wrong. Seth Rogan only knows to play Seth Rogan and he should retire and stop polluting the entertainment industry with his “acting” and his general involvement.
