There was a lot of discussion around the character of Allen the Alien recently, and I saw a lot of really frustrating comments about him being voiced by Seth Rogen. Lots of, “I hate that they’re insisting on Seth because all I can hear is Seth Rogen when I hear Allen, he can’t even play an actual character!”

Like, do people not hear JK Simmons when Nolan talks? Seth has a recognizable voice, and his three(!) appearances have him playing a consistent character and delivering his lines well.

You know who is putting in a lackluster performance in the recent episode? Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen. He doesn’t even sound like he’s doing anything more than reading words off of paper.

I just don’t get the Seth Rogen hate. He’s actually quite a decent actor, but he’s written off as goofy, which actually really works for the character of Allen, who is absolutely a goofy concept.

Oh, man. Another Seth circle jerk thread because there was a few comments. You think JK sounds like Omni man in his normal day to day?

Seth has even admitted himself that when he got cast for DK he was not a voice actor and he was going to just do his normal voice. I do agree his DK was even lazier and worse than Allen though, DK he was essentially just talking like himself with 0 effort to be a voice actor.

The point is, he’s still just doing his regular voice and isn’t much of a voice ‘actor’ . he did get a little better at delivery though. The only reason he is even voicing allen is because he somehow became a producer on the show, let’s face it.
