A friend of mine let me borrow Dune 1-3. I loved them and felt I would definitely re-read Dune. When the deluxe box set of 1-3 came out I bought it but it is just sitting on my shelf. I do plan on rereading them but probably not for awhile. Sometimes I also just like having the books I’ve read on my shelf as “trophies”.
After reading a book, even one I read on kindle or listened to, I always try to get the physical copy. I like having a bookcase filled with only books I’ve read and then loaning those books out to people when they want.
I don’t care about condition or anything like that—just whatever the cheapest price I can snag on ThriftBooks or wherever else.
It a waste of money, yeah, but my dad used to do the same thing and before I was really into reading, he donated all his books and was really disheartened not being able to share them with me. My goal is to not do the same as him.
