He’s one of my favourite characters, but his writing for most of the show (especially later seasons) was terrible. It was like the writers kept trying to one-up his old hijinks, but instead of being funny it just made his stories pointless and undermined all the serious aspects of his character. The whole show is about how your actions have consequences, but Todd breaks that constantly and it makes him much less compelling than the rest of the main cast
I think the creaters were intending to extend the show by 3 more seasons and were going to expand on Todds backstory but because the show got canceled they were unable to.
Todd is so pointless you can probably edit him out of most the show with little to no problems. Earlier on he was tolerable but just going on and on. Also not really a fan of how he treats his mom and step dad.
Overall 10/10 show but with Todd he literally brings it down to a 9/10
i forget the exact line his stepdad uses, but remember, Todd is white. being the exception to the “your actions have consequences” rule is kinda the whole point, no? if Todd were human but not a white man, his whole storyline would literally be impossible
I’ve seen stuff about that reasoning before but I don’t really get it tbh. There were multiple other characters who were also white men who were taken much more seriously, and characters like Mr Peanutbutter who aren’t even human but still have storylines that are mostly unserious and without any real consequences. It kind of just feels like an excuse to not give Todd any depth
