I majored in film and I’ve always tried to be careful to distinguish between stuff that I personally like to watch and stuff that I acknowledge is filmically good, so this is like 2 questions for me.
1.) The catastrophic ending of Escape From L.A. is (I think) the worst thing that BoJack thinks about when he thinks about himself; he started out on an upswing trying to reconnect with someone he genuinely did care about and wound up trying to fuck her daughter and then getting caught by her. Even though nothing actually happened I think it’s a lower moment for him than the strangulation thing during which he was out of his mind on painkillers. It is a very good scene that shows him succumbing to his worst impulses but I skip it every time I rewatch the series because I hate seeing it happen
2.) I like BoJack and Diane doing a silly buddy comedy in “BoJack Kills” because it feels like the last time they get to just hang out together and have fun before all of the bad shit BoJack has done lands and removes the fun from their hanging out
3.) My favorite moment comedy-wise has nothing to do with art or filmmaking or anything and is just the Morningtime Hollywoo segment that starts with “I’m a Ryan Seacrest Type!” “And I’m Some Lady!” for how perfectly it lampoons 90s-00s horrible celebrity gossip shows
