This was an illusion that they created from Todd’s point of view but I want to know what could be the thought process behind doing this in this scene?

I viewed it as him realizing that eventhough he’s asexual, he can still find potentially romantic relationships just like everyone else. He’s not as different as he thought he was.
It was fashion.
