After last night’s episode, I was a bit disappointed it wasn’t fully focused on Thraxa. Atom Eve’s portion was great, but why did they specifically focus on Debbie and Donald as well? To me, it initially seemed like beating a dead horse. I think Donald’s story will be more significant in the show, but for now I’ll just theorize on why they’re focusing on Debbie’s grief.

In the comics it never sat right with me how seemingly easy it was for Debbie to forgive Nolan. She went through serious trauma and development in the comics, I’d say even more painfully than she’s experienced in the show. But, after all that, she forgave Nolan and they ended up back together.

In the most recent episode, Art in essence told Debbie “You don’t need Nolan, you’re stronger than he is, and really, you never needed him.” I agree with his assessment. Debbie is extremely strong willed and able to mentally handle nearly anything thrown at her. This was shown in the comics, but I think it’s even more emphasized in the show.

So, why did Art say this? Kirkman has shown he doesn’t just include filler in the show, everything has a purpose. I think he’s gearing up the comic readers for the fact that Debbie and Nolan will NOT get back together in the show. I’m sure they will reconcile to some degree, but show and comic Debbie are not the same. It made no sense for Debbie to totally forgive Nolan, and I think Kirkman is revising that in the show.

What do you all think?

The thing that dragged the episode down was the the fact that they’re were FOUR storylines going on.I like the Debbie one and it made a lot of sense to be in these episode as it parallels what’s going on at thraxa. But you didn’t need both Eve and Donald. They’ve could’ve removed Donald and added in scenes from the comic that fans wanted for thraxa

I agree, Donald really wasn’t necessary this episode. I like him but he can easily fit into a single episode next year.

When they were doing the “last time on invincible” intro and they showed like 5 different plot lines I was like huh? Why so many plots when you only need 1?

Yes, I agree and the same thought occurred to me while watching episode 4. I feel like it isn’t a given that Debbie will get back with Nolan in the show. From what I can recall, while significant their renewed relationship wasn’t particularly critical to later plotlines (all I remember is the constant sex). Could definitely see the writers going in another direction with the show

i would honestly love nothing more than that lol that part really frustrated me that Nolan technically gets everything he wants despite what he did to earth. To me, I think in the show Mark and Debby both won’t forgive him.
