He’s what? 18? Basically nothing in viltrumite timeframe.

Literally gets dominated by Lucan using one finger.

Then he gets his ass beat by Thula, who has hundreds of years of experience minimum, mind you viltrumites get stronger with age, aaand somehow a pep talk allows him to almost kill her? What? Mind you, in the comics this Thula threw down with Battle Beast and walked away alive

I have no issue with how it was presented. I think it’s clear that Mark’s fear of being like his father causes him to massively hold back.

We could debate the vagueness of how much human and Viltrumite physiology scale to each other as far as age and sex are concerned, but an athletic 18 year old male human would absolutely physically dominate a 50 year old athletic woman. Mark is not close to his physical prime, but he’s likely much stronger than he was in S1.

This is all setting Mark up for the “I thought you were stronger” moment that the season will likely end on. The moment he actually embraces his true strength and aggression and the horror and trauma that follows that moment.

We could debate the vagueness of how much human and Viltrumite physiology scale to each other as far as age and sex are concerned, but an athletic 18 year old male human would absolutely physically dominate an athletic 50-60 year old woman. Mark is not close to his physical prime, but he’s likely much stronger than he was in S1.

This is exactly the conclusion I came to as well, and it just seems logical to me. Then again we can’t know what the show runners intended for sure unless they explain their reasoning.
