What’s your reasoning for having different editions of the same book/series?

I’ve recently watched a lot of tik toks of people showing their different editions of their favorite books/series and I got curious.
I have multiple copies of the Harry Potter books. I bought the first 4 in a set and then 5-7 as they were released. Then, when the house editions were released, I bought the first book because I wanted to read it with the original text, not the American changes. After that, I’ve been collecting the MinaLima versions because they are really beautiful. I’m keeping the original set because I write the date in those every time I finish them.
