I read the comic, and started watching The Legend of Vox Machina. Every time I try watching Invincible, I just stare blankly at how shit poor the animation is. If they kept the budget, then slashed the run time in half I think the show would have been much, much better. There would be less of a wait between seasons, the animation quality would be better, and the pacing of the show would feel much more justified. I would honestly rather wait for 16 seasons with better quality than to have this piss poor release schedule for 8 at the current rate that the show is moving at. As someone that is in college, working my way towards the animation industry, it’s really depressing to see such an incredible story be told in a style this lazy.

Pacing isn’t all over the place, it’s just different to the comics. It makes sense if you’re a show only watcher and haven’t touched the comic.

I completely blank out the comics when watching and pacing feels fine.

It kinda feels like they’re doing a reverse of what anime does. Instead of making filler so the source material can catch up, they’re cutting filler from the already finished material.

I’m gonna be completely honest with you, animation is not as big as a deal as you think it is. If you were going to go into the animation industry, you’d know it takes time for these thing to adjust and get a certain rhythm going with animation, which Kirkman said they have now after season 2 and there SHOULD be shorter waits between season. That’s just me though.

Personally, if the animation was as good in normal scenes than fight scenes, my viewing experience would not change at all. I’ll be like “oh, that’s cleaner and looks better” and never pay attention to it again.

Sure, there are slight animation errors, but they’re not a big deal and if anything, are just fun to point out.

You are telling me that the animation should be an afterthought in an ANIMATED show? Good to know.

Shit likes this won’t get a pass with anime. Go and see the reaction to one punch man season 2 animation for example.

I agree that animation isn’t nearly the most important part of an animated show. Its not an afterthought & that’s not what op said, just not a huge deal. Like i’ve never thought that invincible’s animation was very good, but I’m still really interested in it – then on the other side is something like demon slayer, which I thought had beautiful animation but a story I couldn’t get into so I dnf’ed. Imo an animated show is the same as any other show in that the story is the most important thing about it
