What book have you read that wasn’t subjectively “bad” but you regrets reading all the same?

For me, Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. The book was engaging and it kept me on my toes, but I just with I hadn’t “poisoned my head” with all the graphic gore that was in there. I years later i still think about this and how I really wish I had never read it.

Question inspired by a comment /u/PrincessOfWales made in another thread :)

I’m not sure why I’ve kept my hard copies; it’s not like I’ll be reading them again.

I finally gave up reading the fourth book after it had been in my “currently reading” for like 5 years and then sold all five books. If book 6 ever comes out, I’ll just get a summary. I read through the first book so fast, I don’t know what happened.

It’s sad when I remember the hype surrounding the series. I joined a fan group coordinated by the Inn At The Crossroads website that published historical recipes matching the food in the books. They launched a project called, “Keep George Fed!” where fans would make a food basket with some of the recipes and gift it to GRRM at points along his fourth book tour. It was a lot of fun and he loved it!

        I miss that innocent hype.
