Could be the book you loved the most, the series you daydreamed about, book that inspired you, fascinated you, your comfort read…anything.

And why.

I LOVED the Anne McCaffrey Pern books. I would walk around daydreaming about new adventures set in the books’ world. The Dragonsong books really connected my love of music with my love of fantasy (and animals).

Unfortunately, Ender’s Game. My take on it is nothing new, I saw an incredible sense of empathy and an emphasis on communication being a viable alternative to genocide. Blew my mind that decades later OSC had abandoned all of that

I get people who don’t want to support a bigot but I still love this book.

I’m no once in a generation genius, but the idea of being smarter than most of your peers not being able to relate to them at times was family to me.

It introduced me to the sci-fi section at the library were I found Azimov and so many others.

It’s not the best or most important work in the genre but it’s an important gateway for younger nerds.

Yeah I still love the book and its sequels and there are plenty of ways to read it without financially supporting the author’s agenda so I’ll still recommend it

As an aside, it did directly lead me to reading Asimov’s Foundation and now I’ve gotta find the time to reread that and finish the series
