Like anything in life, it’s more important who did it best, than who did it first.
The original guardians are an intentional satire of the JL.
There are LOTS of pieces of subtle and not so subtle satire across the comic and the show.
For example, one of my favorite moments when Mark says to the Martian guards, “You speak English?” And they respond all huffily, “WE SPEAK MARTIAN.” And that’s it, never explained.
Machine Head is like this too. He has zero origin story, and really doesn’t make sense as a character. Shows up in like one issue/one episode and that’s it.

Other than the original guardian, who are supposed to be a copy, most the characters aren’t really a copy.Ive seen people compare characters due to them having the slightest similarities and say it’s copy and acting like only the original can act that way.Also are you talking about comic or show?
