We always know our favorite books but what about book characters?
For some reason, even after years after finishing the series, I still remember Rose Hathaway from The Vampire Academy. I most definitely have outgrown the series but I still love her spunk and humor. Mead’s development of the character was just so beautifully done.
Also, Jamie Fraser… because, I mean, who wouldn’t? 😮💨
Natsuki Subaru
Cheshire Cat
I have a top 3: Sam Vimes, Granny Weatherwax and Sam Gamgee
Vimes was the only choice for me. Cannot fault the others though.
Granny Weatherwax is my answer 100%.
I named my pick up truck after Granny.
Oooh, I love pick up trucks! What’s your make/model/condition?
I see you sleeping on C.M.O.T. Dibbler.
Vimes is great
I just got into the guards books, and as a recovering addict, there are parts of Vimes that hit so hard.
Ohhh i love this question! I would say Kaz Brekker - Six of Crows
I was so determined not to like him (I hate Aaron Warner), but Kaz’ charm was strong enough to get through even to me.
Yes to Jamie Fraser but also Rebecca Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series. She’s just so sunny and bright and capable I just love her haha
Eli Sisters from Patrick deWitt’s The Sisters Brothers. His struggles and his witty commentary get me every time.
Atticus Finch. Like epitome of good manly man.
I love Scout as a character. Her energy, naivety, honesty and growth feel so real.
Spot from “All the dust that falls” to summerize it’s a roomba that gets isekai’d and freaks everyone out by doing roomba things, like cleaning the floor and eating up their magic circle barriers drawn on the floor, it then gets misinterpretted as god-tier demon by locals. Spot is a good boy and only wants to help humans and clean messes
Frodo Baggins.
Samwise Gamgee
Tasslehoff Burfoot.
Dean Moriarty, On the Road. The character was based on Neal Cassady
Marco Fogg and Kitty Wu, two of the main characters in Moon Palace by Paul Auster. They really resonated with me when I read it at age 20 and were still very relevant when re-reading it several years later.
Fogg failing to furnish his apartment and instead using heaps of boxes filled with an inherited library that slowly dwindles as he’s selling off the books. His time living hand to mouth and how that affects his psyche and physique. It’s amazing and likely autobiographical.
Kitty Wu is such a solid character. She feels very real.
Thoroughly recommend reading it. It has other depths of course and other distinct parts to the story and while I love those bits too, this section of the story is quite amazing.
Cpt John Yossarian
Murderbot from The Murderbot Diaries
My favourite characters are Jane Eyre, Mr. Darcy, Edmond Dantes, and Jay Gatsby.
