I’ll go with the low-hanging fruit: Mein Kampf. I’ve read it, cover to cover. As a piece of propaganda, it’s good. As an example of good writing? Absolutely not (though I will admit I have only read it in translation). Oh, and the whole fascist, racist, and generally shitty worldview of the author that he infuses into the text. And the fact that the author is literally Hitler. You 5-star that book? You’re a Nazi. Period. And as a Jewish person, I don’t look too kindly on them.
Lapvona. I thought the book was gonna be a horror when I read it but instead it was just gross and not good at all. Whenever I hear someone praise it I’m genuinely confused.
Yes! It was a poorly written gross out book with a dumb ending. I kept reading to see what other people found so compelling about it, but it was definitely lost on me.
LOL one of my brightest students told me I would love this book and recommended I read it. I hesitated because what you said is what I’ve heard. I still might give it a try, but I am not optimistic.
