Every time I got in an argument with my parents I considered pulling a My Side of the Mountain. It’s a wonder I’m still alive as I have 0 survival skills and would never have made it.

Schoolteacher in Beloved is pretty vile. That book has several monstrous characters.
Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby hasn’t committed the atrocities some of the other mentioned characters have, but he is so easy to hate.
I don’t understand the love for this book. She’s the most interesting character, but through her character the whole book seems so misogynistic. I love Steinbeck, but this one really didn’t connect with me. The Grapes of Wrath is 1000x times better imo.
What? Why??
LOL one of my brightest students told me I would love this book and recommended I read it. I hesitated because what you said is what I’ve heard. I still might give it a try, but I am not optimistic.
The Last Unicorn. ❤️
In 5th grade, several books grabbed me by the throat and don’t let go: A Wrinkle in Time, The Hobbit, and Watership Down were the three biggest ones.
