mark was getting clobbered by fucking maulers 3 episodes ago now he’s able to beat a full grown soldier viltrumite that’s been conquering worlds for millennia just because he “stopped holding back”. Even Nolan who got hospitalized by the guardians while soloing them, only suffered a cut on his head fighting THREE viltrumites!!! Just makes them look weak in comparison. I feel like they shouldn’t even have any chance winning that battle at all, not alone surviving in better condition than against way weaker foes
That even proves my point more, how are wet tissues beating mark in a pool of his own blood? Why tf does it matter if you hold back against wet tissues? He was holding back that’s why they could pin him and beat him? Do you even know what holding back means? How tf are you the one getting beaten to death and you’re holding back? If that’s the case that’s very very stupid, you don’t have to kill someone to not get killed tf, and again they shouldn’t be able to damage him like you said they’re wet tissues, he should stand there while they try to harm him and he should take 0 damage, you don’t “hold back” durability
Fighting someone to just beat them in competition or defend yourself is way different to trying kill someone. He essentially had to shut the human in himself off in that moment and be a full cold blooded Viltrumite.
I think it’s more like Mark was initially holding back, and by the time he realized how serious the threat was it was too late. Happens all the time irl. I’m a black belt and sometimes when I try to go easy on someone they surprise me with something I wasn’t expecting. In a 1v1 it’s easy to dial it up but against 9(?) people that would be more difficult.
Again, you can’t hold back durability
Some things aren’t about the physical durability of the bodily substance but rather of structural mechanics. It doesn’t matter how resistant your flesh is if you still have joints with limited range of motion and that means your arms can be dislocated.

That’s an issue of unequal skill, not unequal strength. An unskilled opponent can still hurt you physically if you let them. A punch from a trained fighter or an average person can both give you a black eye.
But a viltrumite fighting the maulers is like you fighting a toddler. No matter how hard you hold back, the toddler is going to break your arm or do any serious harm. They might poke you in the eye or nab you in the nuts, and that will hurt, but you aren’t going to let them do it twice, no matter how hard you hold back.
His brother is basically Damian Wayne. He goes full tilt on first hit and explodes them. Mark warns them that he’s holding back and can kill them, but then they swarm him immediately and incapacitate him. I’m a full grown man, but if 1000 kindergartners dogpile me, I’m not gonna be able to get up.
Ok but can 1000 kindergarteners beat you till the point you’re gushing a pool of blood and struggling to even free your arms? And the difference between mark and maulers should be way more than you and kindergarteners, he stopped meteors months after getting his powers and they’re struggling against robot regular suits
