I hate getting books for Christmas in general because I’m such a mood reader, and I’ve plastered a fake smile on my face many a time and repeated internally ‘Its the thought that counts.’ as I unwrap a book I will not read.
But the worst one by far, given to me by my own Mother , who I know loves me, when I was fourteen years old! was >!Men are from Mars Women are from Venus.!< I am sitting there horrified thinking what is she trying to tell me? As my sisters are flat on the floor laughing to the point of puking. We eventually came to the conclusion she just saw an attractive cover on a bestseller table and grabbed it. Love to know your terrible gift stories.
From what I’ve heard… Cursed Child works perfectly fine as what it was intended to be, a stage play/musical?. Everything about it was written and arranged for a stage and apparently captures the ‘magic’ of the books rather well.
As a book it just sucks, and yes its story is just bottom tier fanfiction. Secret Voldi child, time travel, drama, the lot.
Yeah, The Cursed Child as a stage play is well done, with a great cast, clever set design and impressive special effects. When I saw the post-Covid revised show (2 night 5 hour show reduced to 1 night 3 hour show), I enjoyed it and the audiences cheered when >!Snape!< appeared via time travel.
The story itself is the weakest part. So, if one just reads the widely available printed script (based on early versions of the play), it is going to be terrible.
I’m still not over the fact that >!Voldemort had sex. What does that even LOOK LI—oh God, now the visual is back, someone send help.!<
