i just finished a rewatch and i’m in my feels 😫 i truly believe the view from halfway down is the best episode overall, it just hits so good.
however, i also really love the last episode. i’ve seen people say it was rushed and wasn’t needed and while i do think it could’ve ended with TVFHWD successfully, i still love the last ep and it has a lot of relatable shit in.
what are your views on what the best episode is?
my personal favorites ( bc i cant pick just one ) is Free Churro , The View From Halfway Down and The Old Sugarmen Place . so so many things in all these episodes that i loved. and honorable mention is probably the episode with the Philbert premiere party ( i forgot the name )
The view from halfway down is the best piece of television and I’ll die on that hill. It was nice while it lasted, free churro, that’s too much man, the showstopper, brrap brrap pew pew and thoughts and prayers are all close as well
Fish out of water
I think the fact that there’s hardly any communication really makes it art to me. The show uses words to communicate the unexplainable, and within this episode, it shows Bojack trying to communicate when he doesn’t know how to. This episode shows how sometimes there’s no words or you can’t find them. You have to communicate in silence if you get what I mean. I didn’t like this episode when I first watched it, but the second time, I really saw the beauty in it.
I loved the view from halfway down as well! My favorite episode still has to be Free Churro it just resonated with me so much after I first watched it
I would say my true favorites are TVFHWD and Time’s arrow, but the episode “The light bulb scene” tricked me into thinking it’s good. The ending with Bojack looking at the dancer is powerful to me for some reason, even though I know the rest of the episode is nothing special. The song saying “How could anybody have you” fits the tone of season 5 well. And I really like Flip’s line: “This is going to be a sensational season of television”.
I love “The face of depression”. Feels really optimistic, a lot of the main characters have positive turning points. Princess Carolyn rehires Judah, Todd connects with the rabbit (forgot her name :s) on his app, Diane starts taking the antidepressants. Bojack stops dying his hair and gets his professor job… That doesn’t really pan out I know, but the whole episode feels like a positive turn for so many characters. And the credits song is great.
If TVFHD didn’t exist, Downer Ending would be my favorite episode. It’s up there with the first episode of Death Note among the most powerful series hooks I’ve ever seen.
