Title. That’s pretty much it. I’m rewatching the series. “You look so fucking beautiful I cahn’t bear it.” But also (season 1) “It’ll change how I feel about you.” She understands that she can be her girl’s biggest fan and still hold her accountable. We should all be so lucky.

One of my favourite scenes with her is when she comes to the table with the coffee Roy made for her and the coffee Jamie brought her so she mixes them together and drinks them at the same time. It was such a quick and easy way to not pick sides while not invalidating either of the people she cares about and the kind gesture they were each making for her. I love her 🥰🥰

Yes! It’s such a small but great detail because she does it so smoothly and without fanfare.

Rebecca and Keeley’s friendship is one of my favorite relationships ever. It’s exactly what I want in a friend.

Ditto! I want to have and strive to be a Rebecca or a Keely or a Sassy. I think sometimes I’m a bit of a Babs. A little serious. A little bit not fun. But heart in the right place.

“It’ll change how I feel about you.”

One of the most impactful (and favorite) lines in the show for me.

You’re right, though. I love everybody on the show, but if I could pick one to be my real life friend, it’d be Keeley.

She’s that friend who looks you in the eye and tells you the truth. I’ve had a couple of those friends and they’re such gems.

more importantly (for me) she can teach me how to dress. I’d just have to remember to NOT try and kiss her.

(for real though I live in southern California I just wear t shirts/shorts/vans like 90% of the time)

It’s a little different though. She tells you the real truth, and what you need to hear both good and bad. But she also doesn’t use the truth to hurt or excuse rude behavior. Like she’ll let you know there’s something you need to fix or atone for, but in a gentle helpful way.

My sister and I were eating the other day how it’s amazing how the best example of female friendship and characters that blow the Bechdel test out of the water is from a soccer show written by a bunch of dudes 😂😂😂 The fact that Keeley forgives Rebecca and they go on to having this beautiful friendship…it’s just so pure and believable and aspirational and I just love it.

Also 100% true and such a great point. I hope I’m a Keeley to some of my friends. I feel unequal to the task at times but she’s who I want to be.

I’m rewatching season 1 and had the same thought about Keeley. I forgot how much Becca disliked Keeley initially and then she realized how nice and supportive Keeley is and they became friends.

She’s kind to everyone. Encouraging Higgins’ writing after hearing his story about the people finding glass in their meal comes to mind. Telling him his Denzel head nod is cool. She’s just constantly lifting up the people around her.

I was so pleased with the depiction of actual women in this show. There was no cattiness, no jealousy between Sassy and Keeley. Just women being women and encouraging each other (and being tough with each other when it was warranted). It was a breath of fresh air.

I love “that baby is whack. I hate it” when talking about Rupert’s daughter. A true friend hates who you hate, no questions asked.

i agree it was funny but i disagree that a true friend hates who you hate, no questions asked… that would mean Keeley
hating Higgins and Ted in season 1, and a friend who never holds you accountable

yeah and we see that Sassy seems to be very similar in her friendship with Rebecca.

Keeley is the moral compass of season 1, definitely.

Early on I was worried Sassy would only be this monkey wrench in Rebecca’s relationships with Keeyley and Ted. I was relieved to see she was just pleasantly crazy. Her heart was in the right place. To wit, her final words to Rupert:

        ”You are the fucking worst.”
