The Darts scene is my go-to but I wonder if there are other good ones to share!
I saw a random scene when my mate was watching when he came to mine for a bit. I honestly can’t remember what scene, pretty sure late S2. Watched it for about 15 seconds, then asked him if the joke was what I thought it was. He said yes. I instantly knew this would be my type of show.
I think if someone is going to like the show, any scene with a joke/funny will grab them.
“We’re talking about practice?!” That’s the scene that did it for me.
The sports pop culture call backs are so damn good because it’s always north American (AI, miracle on ice , Michael Jordan, chiefs/broncos, etc) makes me wonder how many of them go right over people.
Honestly I start with the commercial that the whole premise became based on. Yes the tone is different in the show and he becomes a much more wholesome character once it becomes an actual show, but it is hilarious and brilliantly succinct.
be curious, not judgemental
“Get your hairy ass in my office now!”
No context/spoilers. Just a scene that shows the serious nature of the show, followed by humor to lighten the mood.
So many. Higginses Family Christmas scenes are so precious.
I live around a lot of KC Chiefs fans, I use the superbowl analogy and specifically the “did you just compare being gay to being a Broncos fan?”
Dani Rojas penalty kick
I’m a teacher, so take with a grain of salt that i get this chance more often than most, but I show people that dart scene EVERY chance I get.
It gets ‘em! Every. Single. Time.
It’s always the darts scene every time this question is asked
I only use “watch this episode” or “check out this scene” when the show takes a few episodes to find its footing. Ted Lasso’s pilot was fantastic.
I don’t show a scene, but I am a sucker for being with people when they watch Rebecca confess to Ted in Season 1. It’s the scene and moment I think of when I think of the case for “why watch Ted Lasso?”
Darts
Darts scene is probably the best answer, but I do love the team ghost fire scene, there’s a bit of comedy and a lot of heart, and it gives a good chunk of characters time to show their character depth (or lack thereof in Richards case)
