Why is Sam significantly more creative with her powers as a 12 yo compared to when she’s 19?

Is there an actual reason behind it or is it just because it’s her own episode and creators just had fun with her powers

If you look top down, everyone except Omni Man, The Speedster dude he killed, and Battle Beast currently uses their powers kinda clunky. Black Samson got bodied for this exact reason. I see Budget being brought up in the comments but…. She wasn’t that creative in the comics either lol power use was nearly beat for beat. Maybe the angle non of us consider really; Kirkman has had more time with her powers backed by a group of animators with a bit of input, bettering his character as they have more time to get in depth.

Most likely due to bigger budget and choreography change. They just did stuff they weren’t able to do in season 1. Pretty sure we’ll see more of that in season 2.

That, or she just changed to a more practical approach with her powers.

She isn’t. Did you forget how she literally built a house with everything she needs? Or how she rebuilt an African village in a second?

People seem to have a rather bleak outlook on this.

For my money, we don’t see her in a huge number if heavily problem or discovery oriented situations in s1. Having a core skillset which is simple and reliable for combat is more effective to train, but unique situations are what warrants creativity in this line if work.

She’s still learning and experimenting with a brand new power set at 12, by 19 she’s had them for several years and learned what gets the job done quickly so she can go do other stuff she wants/needs to do

Her character arc in season 1 was about being a bit jaded with her superhero career but not heroism itself, as I remember, so she was still trying to help people but not putting much flair into it.

In Atom Eve, it’s all new and she’s discovering it

I was actually thinking the exact same thing.

She had only just discovered her powers, So Not only was she testing the limits, but she had so much energy to show off. But after a couple years, the novelty wears off and it kind of just becomes a thing that you would do, so she likely didn’t have the motivation to be as flashy.

i just binged the series and found something interesting and a quick google search came up empty so i posted the question.

like half the reason any sub exists is discussion.

The most obvious answer is that season 2 got a big budget beef up. Season 1 had some minor animation issues like the CGI flaxans and the dead crows. Given the shows popularity it’s obvious Amazon gave the green light for a higher budget

I think it probably comes down to simplicity too. I’d imagine she knows/has muscle memory for some things and they are the go to for her. Also, some random pink stuff flies at me and I have no idea what to do but a giant wrecking ball? I know that’s getting flung at me.

I wish she had a different set of abilities entirely, seems like I see a thread here every week “why didn’t Atom Eve just do ____ in this situation?”.

Because her powers are ill-defined and way too strong for her character in a narrative sense, so most of the time she won’t be using them in a way that would instantly win any fight.

As for this question specifically, I don’t agree with the mental gymnastic answers to make it make sense narratively, I think the simplest and probably truest answer is the bigger budget, and more focus on the character for the special, whereas in season 1 she didn’t get a lot of fights to show off.

I predict in season 2 we’ll get more creative use of her powers in line with what we saw in the special.

People tend to be a lot more imaginative when they are 12 vs when they are 19. She also has 7 years more experience than she did when she just started.

The version of Eve we see in Season 1 isn’t playing around. She has found the most straightforward way to fight and isn’t very interested in creative flourish just to look cool.
