Inspired by a recent post I saw, what is a book or series that you really wanted to like but couldn’t bring yourself to finish for whatever reason?
For me it’s the Dresden Files. The story itself is everything I love; magic and monsters clashing with modern reality, great visual storytelling, and so much promise for a massive world to explore. Yet despite constant insistence it gets better with every book, and constant attempts to to get to that point, I have never made it past the third one. If I had to put words to it, the world never seems to pull me in the way other stories do. It’s actually a problem for me when reading that I get completely submerged in the reality of that story and I can’t consume any other media until that journey is done. Sadly, I never felt it with TDF.
lord of the flies. i know it’s considered great literature, but it would also make great kindling. sorry, sorry sorry, that wasn’t a political statement. but 50 shades of grey would make a great pile of ash. ALSO, 1984. ALSO supposed to be great big important literature. sorry. i don’t like the book. never did.
