I just got into book collecting a few months ago and am really enjoying it. I primarily look for first edition/first printings or as early a printing as possible, and I gravitate toward the sci-fi/fantasy genre so that makes up the vast bulk of my collection. I was wondering what are the most valuable books in everyone’s collection?

My best find and most valuable book is a first edition/first printing (1st/1st) of Ender’s Game that I got for $7.50 at a used bookstore last month. I found out that a 1st/1st of Ender’s Game sold at an auction this week for $4,000.

I also own a 1st/4th of Dune, a 1st/1st of Children of Dune, a Dune Encyclopedia in hardcover and paperback, a 1st/1st of The Great Hunt (the second book in the Wheel of Time series), the complete Subterranean Press edition of the Hyperion series signed by Dan Simmons, a 1st/1st of Something Wicked This Way Comes, and a 1st/1st of the U.S. edition of Good Omens.
