Simon Racioppa(showrunner and executive producer) said this about the first 4 episodes “Hopefully, they make you think for the next few weeks or… months… to just make you reflect on it, so that you don’t just forget it. That’s what I’m hoping people will take back.”
Almost unrelated but I’m a big fan of The Shield and I recently watched the cast reunion, and I remember them saying “we became hugely popular but we decided to keep our heads down, not be influenced by our success and keep on going”.
Invincible feels the opposite, they saw how shocked everybody was during season 1 and decided to turn that into a selling argument, but what was huge about episode 4 really ? Do they think we’re dumb ? They’re either splitting the season in two because the production is chaotic or because Amazon wants to use the show to keep boosting their numbers or something. Maybe I’m wrong but they can’t seriously believe the first part of the season was shocking or gave us anything that we should let sink in.
They just cut the momentum for nothing, and we waited two years for terrible animation. I hope they do something good with season 3 because the story alone won’t carry the show.
