Just found out that the editor in chief of The New Yorker, David Remnick, and Bill Maher are childhood friends. It is stated that “He attended Yavneh Academy in Paramus.[6] Remnick was also a childhood friend of comedian Bill Maher.[7]

We all know that editor have the power to alter articles to fit their direction.

Do you guys think the hit piece on Hasan Minhaj was orchestrated by Bill Maher’s team. I know he and Hasan already had beef due to criticism Hasan made about Bill regarding his takes on Muslim issues. And Bill probably does not want him as the host of the Daily Show or as competition. Ever since John left, Bill’s show over took the market and now Hasan would have presented a serious threat.

Maybe you’ve just found out the two were (not “are”) childhood friends. In a 2010 interview, Remnick described his connection to Maher like this:

DR: (laughs) You know Bill Maher and I grew up—he was a neighbor of the drummer of a rock band I was in; eventually it went by the name of Derek and the Dialectics—and during breaks in rehearsing in my friend’s basement, I played basketball in Bill’s driveway. Bill Maher’s father was, I think, a radio guy, a radio professional. We weren’t close at all. I see him every 10 years like clockwork. I hadn’t seen him in a long time.

Even if they are 69’ing as I type this, the idea that Maher is pulling the New Yorker’s strings seems like a stretch.
